Yet another scintillating masterclass between the former champions

The stage was set for the most awaited game in the first match day of the champions league and it did not disappoint us. What a game. Both Liverpool and AC Milan have their history in this competition and both having fond memories from the past. This time around Liverpool came on top at an ever buzzing Anfield stadium with a 3-2 victory over the rival.

In a breathtaking match Liverpool opened the scoring with a Alexander Arnold crossing effort deflected in registering an unfortunate own goal in the 9th minute by Milan defender Fiyako Tomori. Soon after that the Milan keeper denied Salah from the penalty spot. Milan took charge and scored the equalizer through Rebic on the 42nd minute. Two minutes later Brahim Diaz scored of a rebound from the Liverpool keeper save making it 1-2 in Milan’s favor just before half time.

As history would suggest this was not over yet and Liverpool came from behind to equalize in the 48th minute from a Salah strike. But the main event was saved for last as the Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson scored a scorcher from outside the box on 69th minute to bring home all three points for Liverpool. Are you not entertained??

“We got punished in the last few minutes of the first half, but it started earlier. We got carried away by our own football. We didn’t keep it simple anymore, offensively and defensively, we were not organized anymore. But it did not feel like we cannot come back. It was clear that we had to immediately get back to how we started, and then we scored wonderful goals. It is deserved, but we had 10 minutes where Milan nearly changed the whole tie.”  Jurgen Klopp said after the match.
